Christie Clinic Orthopedic Surgeon Muthana Sartawi is a fellowship trained physician in adult hip and knee reconstruction, who specializes in joint replacements and general orthopedics. Dr. Sartawi brings exceptional expertise to the orthopedic specialty as the first surgeon in central Illinois to offer the anterior total hip Berger technique and the standard anterior total hip arthroplasty. With a minimally invasive approach for hip and knee replacements, patients recover faster and have fewer complications. He is the first in the area to offer outpatient total joint replacements.
Dr. Sartawi received his medical degree at Arabian Gulf University in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and fulfilled a Neurosurgery Residency at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta. After his Neurosurgery Residency, Dr. Sartawi fulfilled an Orthopedic Residency at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he became board certified in orthopedics by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He later completed his Orthopedic Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at the prestigious Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where he specialized in the Berger technique.
